Professor Kristy Slominski was recently interviewed by the podcast Straight White American Jesus in an episode called “Sexless Ed: The Orange Wave.” In it, she describes the role of evangelical leaders from southern California, such as Tim LaHaye, Billy James Hargis, and James Dobson, in opposing comprehensive sexuality education and supporting the development of abstinence-only education. This research is from her forthcoming book, Teaching Moral Sex: A History of Religion and Sex Education in the United States, which will be published in January 2021 by Oxford University Press.

Her research has also been recently featured by The Immanent Frame, an academic blog about secularism, religion, and the public sphere. Her essay “How Religion Made Modern Sex Ed” appears in the blog’s series on religion and reproductive science.
