In Fall 2020, Corey Wegwert, a former University of Arizona Religious Studies major, joined the Master of Arts in Religious Studies Program at Duke University. He will be pursuing study on the intersection of race, gender, and class within American Religion and the social and political implications of religion thought within the United States.
Here's Corey's own words about how the UArizona prepared him for graduate studies at Duke:
While religion has been an enduring subject of interest throughout my life, my passion for it was truly cultivated during my undergraduate career in Tucson, Arizona. The University of Arizona’s Religious Studies Program instilled invaluable notions of critical thinking, work ethic, and intellectual wonder while also opening the doors to a wonderfully diverse world of religious cultures. The program’s greatest asset can be found in its faculty ―a collection of brilliant academics that truly care about their students’ scholastic journeys. The ceaseless encouragement and support from my past professors were vital to my admission at Duke University. The University of Arizona’s College of Humanities has prepared me for the academic and professional workload to come.
Congratulations, Corey, and good luck in Durham!
